Marlon Taylor-Wiles ( Founder & Sr. Researcher at FUTR) 

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Marlon studied classical ballet and modern dance at the Margo Marshall School of Ballet and Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.  Upon graduating from HSPVA, Marlon received a full-scholarship to the Boston Conservatory, studying under renowned dancer Luis Fuente.  Marlon subsequently toured the world with the well-respected NYC contemporary ballet company ArmitageGone! Dance, lead by Karole Armitage, one of the dance worlds’ foremost champion of and collaborator within the arts.  Over the course of five years at ArmitageGone!, Marlon had the honor of working with many acclaimed artists, including Will Cotton, David Salle, and William Wegman, and performed at venues including BAM, the Joyce, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts,  the Victoria and Albert Museum, as well as the Opéra de Monte Carlo in an exclusive performance for Prince Albert II.  In 2012, Marlon was named one of Dance Magazine’s  “25 to Watch”.  Over the next few years, Marlon appeared in various spreads in Elle and i-D magazines alongside supermodels Dree Hemmingway, Chanel Iman, and Joan Smalls.  Marlon performed in music videos alongside Beyonce and Madonna, as well as the highest-ever viewed YouTube commercial for Evian, Baby and Me.  In the retail realm, Marlon has strategized and  managed for Ralph Lauren’s brands Rugby and RRL, as well as managing the pioneering concept store Bodega.  In the fashion world, Marlon has worked with top brands including menswear designer Michael Bastian, CFDA jewelry brands Lulu Frost and George Frost, Theory, Noah, and womenswear brand AVJD on many facets of business, from concept to branding, from art direction to event production and everything in between.  In 2014, Marlon founded FUTR to explore his creative love for dance, experiential marketing and the arts. 

Jacqui Defranca (FUTR Researcher)

Originally from West Boylston, Massachusetts, Jacqui is a graduate from Loyola Marymount University where she received a BFA in Dance.  After living and dancing for 8 years in Los Angelos, CA, she returned to the east coast where she resides in NYC.  Jacqui has performed at the Video Music Awards alongside Rihanna, acted and danced in the short films Out of Zinc and Big Breakin’, and appeared in Oh Land’s music video Renaissance Girls. Jacqui has worked with Mike Esperanza since 2007 and has been a member of BARE Dance Company since 2008. She is a key researcher at FUTR.  

Maleek Washington (FUTR Researcher)

Born in the Bronx, NY, Maleek attended the famed LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and then went on to study contemporary dance at the Boston Conservatory.  Maleek joined City Dance Ensemble in Washington DC, performing works by Paul Taylor, Kate Weare, and Alex Noreal in over 8 countries.  While a company member with City Dance Ensemble, he also joined Jose Novas’s Company Flak in Montreal where he toured Europe. Currently, Maleek is a frequent collaborator with New York based company Abraham.in.Motion as well as a cast member of Sleep No More.  

Emily Wagner (FUTR Researcher)

A Michigan native, trained at the Flint Youth Ballet, Virginia School of the Arts, and at American Ballet Theatre. Her dance career began to bloom when she received an invitation to dance with American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company. In 2005, she performed Peter Breuer's Bolero in Salzburg, Austria with the Salzburg Ballett and from 2005 to 2007 she danced as a soloist with the Movement Network of Amsterdam. While in Europe, she also received an International Pilates Certification with Body Arts and Sciences International.  In the 2009, she performed in Monte Carlo for the Prince of Monaco and danced the role of the Vixen in New York Philharmonic's celebrated production of The Cunning Little Vixen.
